Okay, this is why copying an idea doesn’t work. This one is a good flyer and works very well. The colors are very contrasted and the red is very powerful and demands your attention. And the Crown is a symbol of power, especially in that era, and so are the capital letters, so the message really gets delivered. However, this one is BAD. Not only are the words and background colors very similar, but the cupcakes is EXACTLY the same color as the background. It is a soft color, and nothing stands out. It’s not gonna catch anyone’s attention, not gonna work, not effective.

Thu, Apr 07, 2011 — EVERYTHING CHANGES TODAY

I am changing the schedule for the class.  I have been depressed for two days now because of the grades on the exam.  Yes, the test was difficult, but at the same time I refuse to pass anyone just for hanging out.  Grades raged from 28 to a low of 11.  The 28 and other close tells me it is not beyond your capabilities.

So, if you are going to pass this class, you are going to need to learn the material. No exceptions, no excuses, no blaming it on your classmates or your professor or your pencil.  Sure, I could just curve the test and go on, but when you graduate from Baruch it has to mean a certain standard to employers.  To not uphold a standard is damaging to your future and to all Baruch graduates.

Hence, on Tuesday we are going to retake this exam (with slight changes).  You will get the highest of the two scores as your grade.

-Prof. Gengler

lol nigga please. Why is this guy pretending to care. He has tenure. Just curve and move on. -__-

The Japan crew and I went to Oyama to eat after the film viewing. Omggg they had nanko umeshu for only 12 dollars a 750mL bottle. We ordered 3 for 7 of us. ♥ We had a fun time talking and eating and drinking haha. I had my usual spicy salmon and eel avocado rolls and a couple unagis. It wasn’t 1/2.5 like Brooklyn, but at 1.5/2.75/3, it was more than fair. Especially considering it’s in Manhattan. They were pretty standard taste wise, but presentation could use some work. It was pretty uneven. The spicy salmon tasted different. I don’t know what it was. Service was pretty nice actually, unlike what a lot of Yelp posts said. We were the only ones left and I’m pretty sure it was past their closing time, but they didn’t kick us out or anything, so it was cool. And they don’t card. 3.5/5!

See this is why I don’t write on yelp. Because my ratings are inconsistent. Chikurin’s taste was similar, but their presentation was much better, but Oyama is rated higher just because they have umeshu for cheap and I had a more enjoyable time haha.

Mad brief. Gyoza = ehhh, skin too sticky and broke too easily. Taste was eh. Fried rice = no. Tonkotsu Ramen = decent. Wasn’t the most comfortable seating arrangements and atmosphere either. 2.6/5 if I include the sides, like 3/5 if just ramen. I might wanna redo because the combo meal ramen was half sized and I think it was missing stuff. Like eggs. But the ramen was the best part of all three.

And Chikurin = 3/5. Just average everything.

Seeing these Day-challenges here reminds me… I never finished the one I started in September.

Oh mannn I was pleasantly surprised today. I ordered a (Japanese) fried rice. They actually served me soup. It was way too salty though lol, cause I think it’s what they use for the broth for their Shoyu Ramen. But anyways, the first few bites of the fried rice brought me back to Japan for just a bit. Presentation-wise it was fine, just a bit too dark. I guess they added soy sauce? But they have the shape down and everything. But yeah, the resemblance ends there. Then it didn’t continue to taste as good. And the pork was cut too big so it so rough.

@Lily: yes, I more or less only write food reviews here now, especially since I don’t have time to look through posts to reblog. How do you respond to others’ comments anyways?!

Before I start studying, let me comment on how stupid Baruch is.

So the new schedule for fall came out, and it looks completely different. The section codes changed, and it took me a bit to understand it. Basically they group it by start time now, and there’s two sets for 3- and 4-hour classes. A is the earliest, and so on, then F/S/SU days, then weekday nights. But that’s beside the point. So basically now they make everything start at the same times. As if our elevator traffic isn’t bad enough already. It somehow got better this semester, I think, but if they really go with the same starting time shit, we’ll be back to waiting forever for elevators again. Especially since they’re enrolling more and more students every year. Okay, that’s all.
